We’re all reluctant marketers.

Do any of the following statements resonate with you?

I don’t have time to do any marketing
I don’t know how to decide what kind of marketing to do
I don’t have enough marketing knowledge
I just don’t like marketing
I don’t want to self-promote
I don’t have a budget for marketing
I don’t know how to tell if my marketing is effective

You’re not alone.

Would it surprise you to know that lots of business owners are very reluctant marketers? They’re great at what they do, but very hesitant to get their message out there. That’s not too surprising – in many people’s eyes, marketing is full of hype and slime and not much else.

But it doesn’t have to be that way. In fact, it shouldn’t be that way at all. Ever.

It’s perfectly possible to market your product or service in a way that matches your beliefs, your values, your background, your knowledge, your budget, your personality and anything else you care to name.

What’s more, marketing in a way that resonates for you, is going to attract more of the right kind of clients and customers. The kind who are a pleasure to serve.

Let’s throw cookie-cutter marketing out of the window!

Sure there are marketing formulas and theories and yep, you need to know them and use them. But you also need to add your own special magic to the mix – the magic that makes you who you are, and your business worth knowing.

Without the added value that only you can provide,  prospective clients or customers can’t figure out why they should choose you over your competition. You become a commodity, not a unique solution.

So the foundation of your marketing approach should include the answer to this deceptively simple question:

Why should I buy from you?

Your answer will help you get in touch with the kind of people you want to serve. And the emphasis is on service. It’s all about helping people get what they want, and find solutions to their challenges.

If you do that, you’ll have loyal clients and customers who will recommend you to their friends and colleagues without a request from you.

It doesn’t get better than that.

No More Reluctance

The first step to discovering what’s going to work for your specific situation, is to start asking questions – lots of questions.
